What can I expect from therapy?

Deciding to receive therapy can feel scary for some. Meeting a new person and divulging personal information can make you feel vulnerable and exposed.  Creating a safe space, where the patient feels comfortable and at ease is our top priority.

Much like when you first meet someone in a non-professional setting, our initially meeting will be about getting to know each other and making sure it is a good fit! Being comfortable with your therapist is a good indicator for the effectiveness of treatment. The initial meeting or "intake" is used to gather a comprehensive history so the clinician can better understand the patient and begin to form an idea of what the course of treatment may look like. This is also a good time for the patient to gauge how they feel about the clinician. Subsequent sessions will include psychoeducation and therapeutic processes and interventions based on the patients overall goals for therapy.

How long does therapy usually last?

In general, traditional therapy can last anywhere from 10 to 20 sessions. It's important to note that therapy is a collaborative process between the therapist and the client, and the length of therapy will be determined based on the progress being made, the client's goals, and their ongoing needs. Some clients may find that they benefit from ongoing therapy, while others may find that they are able to achieve their goals in a shorter period of time.

For more specific therapy approaches, such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy or Ketamine Assisted Therapy, the length may be shorter due to the targeted nature of these interventions.

Ultimately, the duration of therapy will depend on the unique circumstances of each individual and their therapeutic goals.

How do I schedule?

We have multiple ways to schedule!

Please note: We will get back to you in roughly 48 hours (depending on weekends or holidays). This method of contact should not be used for emergencies as we are not equipped to manage crisis calls.

I'm in crisis, should I call you?

It the case of a crisis or emergency, it is important you receive support immediately. Kaffer Psychological Services is unable to manage crisis calls at this time. Please refer to the following numbers in the case of an emergency.

Question 5

Do providers at KPS prescribe medication?

Accepted Answer

Currently, medication management is not offered at KPS. It's important to note that medication can be an important part of mental health treatment for some individuals and has been found to be especially effective when paired with on-going therapy. If your clinician believes that medication may be helpful for you, they may refer you to a psychiatrist or another medical professional who can evaluate you and prescribe the appropriate medication.

Do you do in-person sessions?

We currently only provide teletherapy services. We love being able to meet individuals where they are at! Sometimes coordinating schedules can be difficult. At KPS, we can see you on a lunch break or while nursing your new baby! We just ask you to find a private queit space where you feel safe and comfortable!

Do you offer brief consultations prior to scheduling an appointment?

Making sure your clinician is a good fit is so important! Some of our clinicians offer brief 15 minute consultations and others will use the intake as an indicator of goodness of fit.

What is the cost of therapy?

Accepted Answer

Currently our fees range from $125 to $300 depending on a number of factors, such as the type of therapy, the length of the session, and the experience and qualifications of the therapist. It is important to understand that therapy is a professional service that requires time, training, and expertise. Our therapist's fees are commensurate with their level of experience and training.

I know your practice accepts cash paying clients, do you also take insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes!

Although we are currently paneled with Tricare and Aetna, each clinicians contracts are a little different. Check out our "clinician" page for more information.

I don't live in Arizona, can you still provide Teletherapy to me?

Accepted Answer

Yes!

Dr. Kaffer and Dr. Hardie are PsyPACT credentialed providers. This means they can see you if you live in any of the following states:
